No problem: all you need is a good DVD ripper.

Today only, Giveaway of the Day is giving away DVD Ripper Platinum, which normally sells for $29.95.

Just pop a DVD in your drive, fire up this free DVD ripping program, and choose an output format: AVI, MP4, WMV, iPhone, PSP, 3GP, or any of half a dozen others.

The utility has a clean, simple interface that should be easy enough for novices to navigate. And advanced users can get under the hood to tweak settings like bit rate and resolution.

Remember, as with all Giveaway of the Day deals, you must download and install the program before the clock strikes midnight. But that’s the only catch. If you’ve missed past DVD rippers I’ve posted, here’s your chance to score a good one.

By the way, WinX DVD Ripper Platinum comes from Digiarty Software, and it works only Windows OS. If you’re using Mac OS, the same outfit that’s iFunia DVD Ripper Pro for Mac. I’ve used iFunia DVD Ripper Pro for Mac with numerous DVDs (all of them copy-protected, and all of them bought and paid for by me), and it worked quickly and flawlessly with each of them.

Maybe a little too excitedly, because the notorious perfectionists at the company spewed a typo onto its home page. The iTunes Store has been active since 2003. It recorded its first billion songs in 2006, and 5 billion by 2008. While beginning with music, it has gradually expanded to include movies, TV shows, games and applications.

The company is meanwhile highlighting a list of all-time bestselling singles, predominantly controlled by recent mass-market acts like the Black Eyed Peas, Lady GaGa and Katy Perry. Topping the chart is the Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling.” The rankings may be dictated less by genuine popularity than the coincidence of certain songs’ debuts with the growth of iTunes, the iPod and the iPhone.

Apple TV lets you buy and rent HD movies right from your TV. Plus, enjoy YouTube videos, HD TV shows, podcasts, music, and photos. Well, with that latest advances in home wireless networking and iTunes we have found that the Apple TV has become a viable choice as a home media centre. There are still a few holes in what it can do, but it looks pretty good.

First, access to your iTunes library directly. With the advances of N-series wireless home networks it is now possible for your Apple TV to stream content direct from your iTunes library. Prior to N-series wireless, the speeds were not fast enough for streaming, forcing you to sync content from your iTunes library to your Apple TV. This syncing approach was also limited by the size of the Apple TV internal hard drive.

Second, digitising your DVD collection. For those of us who are sick of digging around DVD boxes and trying to find that lost DVD, it is now very easy to store your DVDs in your iTunes library. All you do is rip your DVDs using Handbrake or 3rd-party app like iFunia DVD Ripper Pro, then drop them into iTunes. It couldn’t be easier. You can then play the videos on your Apple TV.

Third, enjoy various video files(including HD!) onto the widescreen TV in your living room with Apple TV. All you do is convert all popular video to Apple TV MP4/H.264 video or M4A, MP3 audio formats using Apple TV Video Converter and drop them into iTunes. Also, the iTunes store in most countries now supports movie and TV show rental and purchase. From a technical viewpoint, this works just fine. We’ve rented and purchased a few movies and there is at most a 2 minute delay between purchasing and being able to start watching. With a few clicks of the remote, you may rent and watch HD movies or TV shows to your widescreen TV easily.

It’s not without merit that the WiFi version of the iPad would be available on a pre-order basis as unlike the 3G version, this one does not require any long term binding contracts that need to be signed although FCC approval would be necessary before they do officially go on sale.
