For those looking to watch this year’s Olympic games, but do not have a cable subscription or just like the feel of YouTube a little better, the International Olympic Committee has you covered. AP reported that the IOC would live-stream over 2,200 hours of the Olympics on to YouTube for those across Asian and in Africa. According to the report, the streaming is primarily for countries that the IOC does not have rights to broadcast in, such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Thailand, and Singapore.
This official YouTube channel is consist of 11 different simultaneous high-definition broadcasts, all with English language commentary and 10 live feeds from London 2012, running 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. (London time). Also including 24-hour broadcast of the Olympic News Channel, summaries of the latest results, reports on different events, and interviews with athletes ans participants. If a viewer can watch the BBC streams using iPlayer (or some alternative), they’ll almost certainly do that, rather than put up with NBC’s time delays.
I’m quite relieved that NBC is partnering up with YouTube for the Olympics. Just a few years ago they were killing videos of Olympic footage they didn’t even have the rights to!
But that includes only a few million residents and tourists, so perhaps the IOC can afford to not care about us.

Well with bandwidth being so pervasive TV makers need to ensure that their device is web capable since the era of web exclusive entertainment events may be just on the horizon
