Best free Halloween movies for kids

Halloween is a spooktacular time, every year at Halloween I always take my son Trick or Treating then it comes time for the Halloween movies. But when it comes to Halloween scary movies, I'm simply not into my kids getting nightmares. That is why I've come up with a list of 6 best Halloween movies for kids that will help them appreciate the holiday's spirit without making them too scared.

Top 1- Hocus Pocus

I first watched this video with my son when he was about two years old. I found this Halloween movie to be a lot of fun for both children and adults alike. While older kids and adults may find it a little corny, younger children will definitely enjoy it. It has a talking black cat, three evil witches and a trio of young heroes to cheer for.

Top 2 – Monster House

This animated feature film was a big hit when it first came out, and it probably will still be popular with the kiddies, especially on Halloween. It comes from the talents of Robert Zemeckis and Stephen Spielberg, and tells the story of the kids who dare to take on a terrifying neighborhood house.

Top 3 – It's the Great Pumpkin

It just wouldn't be Halloween without joining Charlie Brown and the gang for the classic tale of the Great Pumpkin. "Candy! Candy! Candy! Candy!" Garfield's Halloween Special is great stuff! Pretty spooky, too. Kids love watching the Peanuts gang celebrate Halloween, and My son just got spooked by the old man in the chair.

Top 4 – Corpse Bride

Tim Burton combines wholesome comedy and creepy horror with this tale of a mild-mannered Victorian gentleman, Victor, who accidentally marries a mysterious corpse bride instead of his intended, Victoria. Victor soon discovers that the Land of the Dead holds more fun than frights and begins to fall in love with his bride.

Top 5 – Coraline

A unique animated movie in a realm all its own, Coraline is the perfect Halloween haunt movie for those who like a scare. While the animation is brilliant and the story may be frightening to young children. For older kids, though, the movie is a creepy cautionary tale about the perils of things that are too good to be true.

Top 6 – Nightmare before Christmas

Okay, we need one more movie that is appropriate for my 6-year-old son to watch. He loves this movie and thrills at the escapades of Jack Skellington as he tries to co-opt Christmas for his scary buddies. The animation in this film is amazing, but some of the Halloweentown characters could be a bit scary for the younger set.
